The T.M.C. Asser Instituut is inviting submissions of abstracts for its panel titled “Emerging voices in private international law”, part of the Institute’s 60th anniversary conference themed “Adapting private international law in an era of uncertainty”. Doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers are encouraged to submit a 400-word abstract by 15 August 2025 for a chance to present their work in The Hague on 24 October 2025.
This panel will feature two promising early-career researchers presenting innovative studies in private international law. Those chosen will be asked to expand their presentation into a chapter for an upcoming edition of the Short Studies in Private International Law series.
Eligible applicants include PhD candidates and postdocs within five years of earning their doctorate. Abstract topics should fall within the scope of private international law. Selection criteria emphasize novelty and clarity of the proposal.

The panel will be held on Friday, 24 October 2025, in the Mandela Room at the T.M.C. Asser Instituut in The Hague. Each presentation will last twenty minutes, followed by discussion from the audience. This session will conclude a day dedicated to exploring how private international law can respond to challenges such as technological advances, social inequality, and global uncertainty.
Please note that travel expenses will not be covered.
